IQ electric window kaput!

I’ve had a tale of woe after my driver’s side window stopped working. Problem eventually found to be corroded parts in the wiring loom, which was beyond my local servicing garage. Booked in to Toyota - swallowing the £60 “investigation fee”, even though I told them what the issue was. Assumed it would be expensive but at least fixed. Not so - informed they had no relevant part nos. on their system and basically just sympathised and washed their hands of it. So much for the much trumpeted “Right to repair” that the government keeps going on about.

Anyone had a similar  issue or any suggestions?  I’m loath to pay for a third bout of exploratory  work that proves fruitless.

Regards,

Tim

'Right to repair' in the UK currently only covers dishwashers, washing machines & washer/dryers, refrigeration appliances, televisions and other electronic displays.

Vehicles aren't covered.

Moved to the IQ club.

It's a pity.  I fixed my washing machine a while back with 10 quid of electric motor brushes from eBay.

I wasn’t suggesting this was a legal requirement  - more a show of disappointment that a manufacturer couldn’t sort an issue with a vehicle not that long out of production.

The car is no longer produced, a dealer will not be interested or hasn't got the staff with the knowledge  of the IQ some dealers do have a high turnover of staff

what is the exact issue you are having ?

What is corroded ?

If you listen carefully, can you here the motor click when you press the switch ?

Passenger or drivers side ?

Parts are not an issue, if it's a wiring issue it can be repaired or you can pick up a used door loom

You can check things your self if you can use some tools and have the time to spare, it isn't rocket surgery, the only way to learn is to do these things

The forum is here to help

Yeah, considering the dealers are supposed to be specialists and hold all the knowledge of Toyota vehicles, they've proven pretty poor so far in my experiences; The couldn't even correctly diagnose an AC problem in my old car, but like an idiot I trusted their diagnosis and paid a lot of money for the 'repair' only for it to fail again within a week, and on taking it back it's "Oh yes sir we're sure we've found the problem this time, but it's not cheap to fix!" like I'm going to fall for that twice.

In your case OP, it would be worth seeking out a good auto-electrician who has a good reputation. Also, PartsKing might be able to help with part numbers - He was the only one able to find a part number for me when all my other dealers somehow failed to!

The IQ ceased to be imported into the UK in 2014 - 7 years ago - and production ceased in 2015 - 6 years ago. It is a dealer who couldn't sort the issue.

Check the door1 and door2 fuses, they are 25 and 30 amps

There are 3 common issues

The window mechs jam/snap, Valeo (oem supplier) sell a redesigned replacement part

A quote from another thread..................

"Go for the Valeo part (oem for toyota)

Valeo

LH   851108

RH  851109

There is an installation pdf

https://techassist.valeoservice.systems/api/v1/td/documents/20988/564045172236366

be aware these come without the motor"

Sticky window rubbers (usually the passenger side) - sorted with a clean and a lube using PTFE  (GT85) or a silicon spray if left it can cause the above issues

window switches can have issues it they get wet/damp
