Car not accelerating as it used too

Hi all,

before I start, i have a Toyota Auris Hybrid 2018 UK one of the last ones before the Corolla came in.

Recently i had a slight coolant leak from my radiator which meant on a long drive I didn’t realise this and It caused slight overheating as there was no fluid in the car.

Never the less, i had this repaired and a new water pump added as the old one had burnt out during the incident.

Since I have got the car back, i feel like the i have to really push the car to get it to pick up speed.

The gauge that shows Ev/eco/power, the gauge is always in power now to get the car moving. Im not sure if the hybrid motors are  not providing power anymore, or the engine is running on less Cylinders.

What would be the first things to check to diagnose this issue?

thank you fro your help

Hi

after overheating event first thing that comes to mind is a head gasket. I think you should go to a trusted mechanic who can make a proper diagnosis., Toyota garage or someone who knows these cars well. Usually when you need more power to accelerate the car is down to an issue with the engine not an e motor.
Good luck

Hi tony,

thank you for your response. The coolant actually leaked from the hybrid side and not the engine side. But I will definitely take back to my guy who actually a specialist with toyota hybrids.

thanks

You are under warranty but no coolant overheating could be a neglect problem. You must see check engine light and stop right away. Hybrid has no temperature gauge and it is important to check all fluid anytime you have check engine light.  It is possible that your inverter and transmission failed from no enough coolant.
