Any reason why the fan near the bumper I think keeps coming on at random times and random days.

2018 1.6 d4d manual. Get about 45 mpg through town and no other issues as far as I know. 48k mileage.

At odd times when the car is warm but air-con is off, when I turn the key to ignition, the fan comes on. I assume to prevent heat soak for easier starting. I am sure the fan did come on with a cold engine start once or twice, but it never bothered me. The fan always stops after a few seconds.

This is what happens to me exactly. Hopefully nothing to worry about.

Same here. Mine often stays on after I shut off the engine. Sometimes for 5 minutes. And it is not necessarily very hot outside… I suppose the sensor is situated in the cylinder head where the coolant will remain hot, cause when the pump isn’t running, the temperature in the cylinder head will only decrease very slowly.
