GPS trackers (Invoxia or other)

I have an Invoxia GPS tracker, I bought it because I wanted warning if my car was moved without me in it. Has anybody else the same, or similar, device ? I previously had a service that cost 14€ per month, it provided some extra insurance cover, too. The registration was also engraved on the windows, but I have my doubts as to the real utility of that.

Invoxia GPS tracker

Basically, it uses communications networks to triangulate and find its position, which is then reported to the IOS/Android application on your smartphone.

You can set up various alerts, like entering and/or leaving a zone, or simply movement detected. These updates aren't continuous but the standard rate is every 10 minutes or so.

I haven't yet mastered the setting zone, and movement alerts. If I set for movement, that is movement after the tracker has been stationary for 5 minutes, I get too many alerts. I'd like away to automate the setting/unsetting of movement alerts. I am using an IOS application, but I'm not having much luck with finding a way to automate.

I have a ticket open with Invoxia support, but they haven't responded yet.

Invoxia support answered my query. It appears that the model sold in the USA and Germany, which uses the 4G/LTE network to triangulate, has something called "Smart Alarm". This means that if your telephone and the car are moving together, then you do not receive alerts. They say this "Smart Alarm" feature will be rolled out to the other the other models, notably the tracker that uses the LoRa/SigFox* network.

In the meantime, even with the car in the garage, I set the tracker to detect movement or "tilt". That way, when I take the car out of the garage, I am reminded to unset the movement detector. Of course, I have to remind myself to reset it when parking.

Invoxia inform me that the accelerometer in the tracker is sensitive enough to detect even a slight jolt. I certainly believe this, because on a recent motorway run, I kept getting movement warnings, which are caused by bumps, like speed bumps, for example. Even closing the hatchback can set off a warning.

* As far as I can gather LoRa/SigFox are wifi hotspot transmitters, maybe other things, too. This means that even when out of sight of GPS satellites movement can be detected. LoRa/SigFox is the network used in the UK, as far as I can tell.
