So my gen2 plugin prius alarm has gone off 3 times this evening.  Windows are all closed and there is nobody locked in. The last 2 times i was watching the car from the window in case something was rocking the car but nothing was.

Anyone got any ideas what it could be?

Hi Alan, I’d be very interested in any replies you get because last year on a very hot day, my Prius was parked on the drive & the alarm went off for no apparent reason. There was absolutely nobody around as I was standing within sight of the car. After that incident it never happened again. I simply assumed it was probably due to the temperature which made the inside of the car get very hot but if there could be another reason for this happening I’d obviously like to know.

Went out in the car today and when i opened the boot, a moth flew out.

Hopefully that was the cause.

Definitely. That’s happened to me a couple of times

Thanks for letting us have that update. At least, Alan, you found a moth. Maybe there was an insect in my car that caused my alarm to trigger. Shows how sensitive the alarm is to intrusion, though it’s a pity it doesn’t trigger if someone tries to steal the catalytic converter!
