Corolla 12v battery maintenance

My Carolla is due for delivery in December. Reading the various comments  it looks like a lot of maintenence is required to keep the 12v Battery charged? I leave my current Audi unused for 4 weeks or more and use a smart charger after that. Do I have to use the smart charger on my Carolla every week, if so that is a real pain?

Where would the Corolla be left….. if in a garage with electricity you could leave the charger connected if it like the CETK 5, this is a slow charger (as recommended) but once charged the charger simply keeps it charged (topped up) automatically.  If that is not feasible a charge every couple weeks should be ample.

Not in a garage, that was built for an Austin 7!!! But every two weeks will be ok. With stop/go I suppose my Audi Battery is larger, it must be, would cost £350 to replace, the Corolla Battery looks much smaller?

Frazthe, the Corolla is also stop/start but this of course uses the traction Battery and not the 12v Systems Battery. I bought my car at the start of the lock down and had no problem for some weeks.  Then I had the issue.

If you simply switch the car on, ie Ready mode, for an hour every two weeks your traction Battery will start the ICE for a few minutes to warm up and then switch off.  The traction battery will then recharge the 12v battery. At a certain point the ICE will be restarted to recharge the traction battery and repeat the cycle.

Toyota advise doing this for an hour to ensure the 12v battery is charged.

During the hour you can slow the discharge of the traction battery and reduce the ICE running, by shutting off the air con and fans and radio etc.
