Reverse camera signal - pin

Does anyone know which wire is the reverse signal?

I installed the android head unit, but struggling to figure out which cable is the reverse positive.

As I understand it's the 28pin (the pink one). I measure the voltage between the ground, but it shows the 0 voltage in any mode.

Toyota CHR-2017, 1.8 Hybrid.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

It doesn't have a reverse signal (It would be on pin 2)

you will need to tap the reverse wire in the main body loom on the passenger side or from the reverse light

Didn't know,  this is very unusual because

Could you please point out which adapter? This photo taken under the passenger seat.

The reverse does not go into any of them, the body loom goes along the passenger side up behind the kick panel and into the fuse box under the bonnet, the alternative is to use a canbus adapter, but these are not cheap and require more wiring/soldering

Hi flash22,

I have spent so much time checking the voltage and debugging wires. Cheers 🙂

I can't figure out the wires based on this diagram, the black is not ground, but data positive

Black - data positive

Red +12v

What's the proper pinout?

Finally, I was able to do it.

Moreover, I created a few diagrams and recorded a video only for CH-R cars! I hope it will help you guys.

Can bus adapters can be hit and miss - try it, if not you will need to tap the reverse signal at the Junction box behind the glove box

when you say tap the reverse cable - you mean for positive power for camera to the junction box pins?

where does "back"  cable go from canbus box - in with it?

Does the (back) cable go live (12v) when you put the car in reverse ? If so, connect it to your radio

If you can not get a reverse signal from the can bus "back" wire - you can connect the reverse wire from the radio to the junction box (confirm you have 12v in reverse at the terminal of the junction box)

A tap or splice is a way to connect into a wire, Usually by striping back so insulation and either solder or use an open crimp

hi yes it does get around 13v when in reverse

and weirdly if i plug the RCA lead into anything other than cable that goes into head unit it works if i use an app to view camera and if its in reverse!

so left green circle is back cable -  which as power when reverse is engaged

right circle is ground - but doesn't seem to make a difference if plugged in or not

this is RCA to RCA plug into head unit - in this pic - that doesnt work

hope that makes sense

On the radio you will have a reverse wire connect it to the Back wire

do you have the correct RCA on the radio, you may have 2 or more

yes you need to connect the ground from the black box tha feeds the camera

Pink - Back - from the can bus adapter

on the camera adapter you have a black box this that has a

red 12v

black - negative

the radio need a reverse signal, so it knows when to turn on the camera

what is the make and model of the radio ?

See their examples, the Pink is connected back into the main loom with another wire (what looks like a white)

to simplify matters, find pin 3 (brown)  cut it connect it to the Pink - Back, wire from the can bus adapter

thanks will try

to be clear - cut wire 3 so the connection is broken to the plug

- (not join pink (back) cable to it) and join pink cable to it and to power of little black box as i have ?

cut the Brown - connect the brown wire (the wire that goes to the radio) to the Pink (back)

also

connect the red from the camera supply to the pink (back) like you have now
