You can not do that with Carista or with the throttle body, idle is automatically adjusted by the engine control unit as far as I know. If all is serviced and cleaned the car should work fine. All you can eventually do is to disconnect 12v Battery negative terminal and leave it like that for 20 min or more and then when connect again start the engine with all electric consumers off do not turn the steering wheel and let it run for 15 min , then drive as usual and after few starts and stops the engine should be running nice and smooth.

I just passed 1500 miles done since I bought the car. I paid 6.5k for it, but I wouldn't sell it for 8k. The only 2 things that are not right:

  • steering wheel sits a bit to right (i will do a wheel alignment when I will put new tyres on the car) 
  • the low idle rpm which makes the center arm rest vibrate a little (but i will clean the throttle body when the weather will allow me to do so)

Next thing that I am thinking to do is to change every interior light bulb with LED ones. 😄

You can center the steering wheel from the column inside the cabin. Not wheel alignment. Check the tire wear if the alignment is needed. There is a large bolt holding the column, loosen it and center it.

Hello people, I have an update.

I have regased the a/c today @ toyota delarship.

While doing that, they found a split track rod end gaitor. They quoted £150 to fix it.

I have checked and the part is £20.

How much do you think a corner garage would charge to change it?

Well, you are lucky it’s the outer end as the inner is a whole new steering rack. Buy a high quality part preferably original Toyota or blueprint or firstline, trw, moog, lemforder, but it’s not just replacing the rod but also front wheels alignment. If you go corner garage minimum £100 all together or £120. You can get a quote and decide. If it was me I will replace myself and take the car to local wheel alignment specialist they charge £30 for the front to check and adjust. 👍

I sell first line there ok quality no the best but not the worst

Once I had fitted two different tie rod ends, one side was Firstline and the other was Delphi, after 30k miles or so I needed to replace control arm and on inspection the Delphi tie rod was very weak and needed a new one while the other side First line was still tight and good., since then I think first line does a good suspension parts, also been using suspension bushes from them and they seems as good as oem one and blueprint, febi are also good.

 
Please note a brand that you should avoid at any cost:

“Optimal “ - it’s called a German budget brand aftermarket parts, however the quality is poor, fitting difficult and some parts are even dangerous.

Updates 75.500 miles

No issues so far with the car.

What I've done so far:

Changed the interior lights and booth light with Philips LED bulbs.

Changed the Battery with Bosch S5. The old Battery was 9 years old so I kinda expect it to fail soon anyway.

Next week i will do:

Oil + oil filter

air filter

cabin filter

Sounds like from reading your posts only thing not done buy yourself is gear box oil , I wanted local dealer to do mine at 6 year old as it said in handbook but the said it’s 10 year

Hi guys, after checking documentation, i decided to do it myself. I will chamge the transmission oil along with engine oil in 2-3 months when it will be warmer. 

I changed the oil and oil filter every 6k miles and I intend to keep it this way since it costs me about £35 for oil and filter (Castrol oil 5w30 A5 and borg&beck filter).

I also got a new puncture kit just to have it.

Seems that I have OCD and can't allow skilled mechanics touch my car. Some of them are just careless. I need a ramp 🤣🤣

BTW, do you guys know any place with ramp to hire in / near Sheffield?

You can get one of those ramps that you drove onto.

But not sure if it will cause issues when draining the oil, or the car must be level.

When i change my oil,  i use hydraulic jack + jackstand, undo the screw, wait for it to drain a bit, then lower the car until the oil drains completely.

As for the gear oil specification:

I found "D B Carlift Hire & Auto Spares" in Sheffield. Apparantly it should be £10 ph which is not bad. 

Has anyone used this garage?

Hi guys, Update 80.000 miles

Car still runs like new. I know its like saying water is wet and milk its white but just to mention it..

 

Anyways, I changed this week:

- Drive belt (original Toyota part);

- front discs and pads; (TEXTAR)

- rear discs and pads; (TEXTAR)

- brake fluid 1L (DOT 4 original Toyota)

The brakes still had some life left but I decided to do it now when its warm to get it out of the way.

 

Now, I am still stuck at the transmission fluid part. I need to change it but I would like to use a ramp. I will phone those guys from Sheffield.

80k miles is not that much for tranamiasion oil is it?
