Hopefully a simple Q&A.  At the bottom of the rear view mirror is a green light.  What is it for?

If you have a model which is design or above its simply a status light of the auto dimming mirror

It shows if the auto dimming rear view mirror is on or off.  Green light = auto dimming mirror on, dims the mirror when cars approach you from behind at night with their headlights on to prevent dazzle.  No light = auto dimming mirror off.

One could argue that a light to tell you whether or not you are being protected from dazzle is rather pointless 🙂

Most other vehicle manufacturers have moved on with the auto dimming rear view mirror design & removed the on / off switch plus the green status led.

I know the green light is there, but it doesn’t bother me. I suppose I would be concerned if there was no green light and I got dazzled from behind.Having a choice as driver for it to be on or off….. can’t see the point of having it off, can anyone else see the point?

Having it off, so its easier to identify yuppies, approaching from the rear with full's on?

So, you identify yuppies approaching from the rear…… then what?

It was my wife who noticed this as a passenger.  Reading the handbook is not the quickest way of getting an answer.

I asked a different question about lane assist a couple of times and have not had an answer nor can I replicate the display if I try.

I have not had an definitive answer yet.  I shall scour the 600+ pages yet again

I just wish you could turn the mirror dimming on manually, instead of just off! I was first at the lights when a truck came up behind me and I was getting both beams in all three mirrors! Folded in the wing mirrors, but the rear-view mirror didn't dim for some reason... This sort of thing I why I prefer manual things to automatic! I was sorely missing the ability to flip it up at will like I did in my old cars!

Thank smeg I was at the front of the queue so I could get the heck away from it as soon as the lights changed! (This car is sooo gooooood  )
