2006 Hiace 2kd 88bhp top end noise .

Hi I own a 2006 Hiace 2kd 88bhp GS300 that runs lovely but a little niggle is the tappety type of noise that seems to appear when cruising along let's say in top gear and I take my foot off the throttle then when I load up the engine again it goes quiet, is this a normal quirk with this engine ? I should say it does it still when engine is at normal operating temperature not just cold.

What mileage is on it ? My old Hilux D4D 2.5 used to make exactly the same noise as you're describing and did it from new - funnily my Hiace doesn't make that noise !
