Toyota Estima - Hybrid - Road Tax

hello all,

I am looking at the Estima - Hybrid version but however I was surprised to hear the road tax is around £300 ?

I thought with this being a Hybrid, the road tax would be much lower ?

Does anyone know why the road tax is high and whether it it likely to increase (and why ?)

Estima hybrids would all be grey imports from Japan rather than European market models, and, as such don't have a Euro emissions classification (eg Euro IV, Euro V, etc). VED arrangements are different for these, and I think Japanese imports over 10 years old are charged at a flat rate depending on whether they are under or over 1549cc.

The VED system is subject to change and increases dependent on what decisions the current Chancellor makes in any one year, so it is impossible for anyone outside Government to foresee what these may be in future years.
