RAV4.4 Diesel rattle when first started.

Hi.

I have a 57k mile Rav 4.4 2.0 Diesel First reg in Jan 2017.

when I start it after not using for 24 hours there is a metallic rattle for a few seconds. Sounds like a loose heat shield but have checked that.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

I have the same engine, age and the same month of first registration. My rattle comes from the gear lever when the engine is still cold. I just asked a question about this problem on this forum.

Hi.

Thanks for the info. Will keep an eye on the feedback.

Other than that I am really pleased with the car. It was a toss up between the Rav and a Sportage. The extended warranty swung it.
