Is a cover a good option?  I heard they can scratch the paintwork when fretted by the wind.  Better surely to let it dry naturally.

We've tried several. Halfords appear to be good quality, waterproof and long-lasting. It has a felt inside to protect the paintwork. Currently on sale too.
