Afternoon all. Strangely, most of the clips (see picture) on this plastic cover under the bonnet are missing. Anyone have a link or similar to get replacements please?

When I first got my car back in 2015, I had to replace missing clips. I got a clip kit with different size and types of clips. The real issue is not have the proper tool to remove the clips and I have a two tools, plus trim removal kits. Even without the proper tools, there is a way of removing clips without forcing and breaking them. The techniques are as follows -

  • Lift the centre of the clip first, then pull the whole clip out.
  • Other designs have a cross indent, so use a crosshead screwdriver (Philips), to turn the centre which pops up.
  • The final type is push the centre in before lifting the main body of the clip out.

Since replacing missing clips, I never have to worry about broken clips.

Brilliant, thanks both. Just out of curiosity, what job would someone likely be doing to have to remove that panel? I know the main dealer (who serviced this car from new for the original owner) replaced the coolant on the last service, as well as the brake fluid, Battery and all the filters/oil etc. I wonder if they forgot to put them back for one of those jobs?

Clips arrived today, perfect fit, thanks. I think it was the Battery previously had been changed, as there is a recent receipt. Shame they didn't put the clips back!

The last time I had to replace the side light bulbs, was the when I had to remove the front cover for easier access.

official dealers charge an inordinate amount for them i have found and often forget to replace them or charge for them like they do for windscreen topup liquid (even though you can drive into a service with the level at 100%). hasty removal of them risks damaging them also. you can get a bag of them inexpensively on aliexpress. be sure to turn them 90 degrees before removal so the centre part pops free.

For the price of one clip from a Toyota dealer you can buy a bag of 20 clips from aliexpress.com.
