ECU's

Hi all, new member to the site, however have owned my 2004 Red edition Celica for 3 years, and my 1989 MR2 for almost 28 years now.

My friend has a 2005 Red edition Celica and he decided to plug in a Snap-On OBD2 reader, which identified his car as a Celica. No big surprise. However I plugged mine in and it identified it as an Avensis 😔.

Now the previous owner - only one owner, before me, there is a gap in MoT's for 2 years and service history makes me wonder if my ECU has been swapped for an Avensis one? I only got one key with the car, and it will not manually unlock any of the door or tailgate.  I have driven my friends Celica and it 'seems' more zippy than mine, I just wonder if anyone has ever heard of this before? and what would I need to swap the ECU over to a Celica, obviously the ECU, key, ideally door locks (one or both) and ignition barrel/switch.

Thanks in advance.
