Toyota Insurance comedy quote

I'd gone with Ford insurance when I had the Focus and just changed the car to the RAV when I got it last year.

Just got their renewal quote, £350.  Thought I'd check Toyota's own insurance.  500 quid.

Ford is the best by far, Post Office Over 50s 400 quid, direct line 450 quid.

Anyone got any recommendations?  I'm a 51 year old low mileage, all the NCB, licence since 1987, my insurance shoud not be 500 quid.

I agree, when we bought our RAV they quoted over £600 and said it was non-negotiable. Quote me happy came in at just over £400…… Try any of the online comparison sites. However Toyota insurance allegedly has benefits some other insurance may not include.

Depends whether you fit the profile of customer they want (taking into account occupation, driving history, postcode, etc, etc) - if not they will over-quote.

Also bear in mind since January, insurers can no longer offer new customers better prices than existing customers - which has led to an increase in costs for new customers.

Which? recommended providers in descending order are NFU Mutual, LV, SAGA, and Direct line. Also SAGA and the Post Office offer specialist policies for the over-50's.

Have you tried LV, and have you tried online comparison sites.
We have been with LV for some years now. Every year I get their renewal letter, and every year LV is cheaper online comparison sites than LV renewal letter. so I take the online quote and cancel auto renewal with LV.
Got to admit, the difference with the two quotes has narrowed such that this year it was literally just a few quid difference, still in favour of online.
However this year I enquired about a family insurance. Both of us are with LV but separate polices. Now we have a joint policy. Because it will only be this year will the two cars be fully aligned time wise we will see the financial benefit but looks like it’s a £30 saving which is not to be sneezed at.

I went with Toyota Insurance (Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance UK Limited) when I first got a RAV because it was attractively priced but after a couple of years it was easily beaten by other insurers "new customer" deals. As above, use one of the comparison sites to find someone who wants you ...

One benefit of the Toyota package is that it includes GAP insurance - but probably more expensively than buyer better value versions of both separately.

We are now in the state that insurers are no longer able to offer "new customer" discounts - they have to offer the same price to everyone. You may now find that you get a loyalty discount with Ford ...

But the Post Office will be taking a cut presumably.

Guy

I've just done the same on Gocompare for my new RAV4 and a Flow Insurance Annual Policy quote was £314 (including protected NCD). I have max NCD too. Flow are the online only insurers owned by LV and so are underwritten by LV...... LV quoted £414. The flow policy also includes: Temporary hire car, Legal cover and Personal accident cover as standard.

Interesting, I "only" have 16 years NCB and these days you can reference more, it used to be they only cared up to 9 years and then it didn't matter.

Hi all.....or could it be that Toyota are very much aware of how much the PHEV platform is loaded with high tech. components lurking just behind the bodywork. A simple shunt could lead to mega bucks see Ernie,s posting (26/1) featuring a couple of scary YouTube clips by Car Nut.

Max NCD meant 9+ years

All insurance will replace a written-off car with new in its first year so Gap is pointless. And having crunched the numbers it is much cheaper buying GAP for year 2 onwards elsewhere.

We have both been insured on Mrs Kingo's Aygo for the past few years with LV, I have a company car and is insured by the company. I can't believe how cheap the Aygo is to insure with LV, both of us, fully comp, two drivers, £157 a year, bargain! As Frosty says, it's all about the customer profile/post code etc etc

I always found Aviva very competitive and excellent to deal with if you have a claim - also important when it comes to insurance. They are not on price comparison sites, so you will need to obtain a quote via their website.

Almost same as the previous Arona we had. The RAV is over £400 on like for like basis…..

I insured my 2021 RAV4 Excel through M&S for just under £300 with myself and SWMBO driving last December.

She was insured through them when someone hit her parked car and wrote it off, they were excellent at sorting the claim and she received the forecourt, rather than trade in, value. I go for good value, rather than cheap.

I’m with Aviva too for the very same reasons.  They are not any dearer than the price comparison websites and the service is great.

I wrote a Primera off about 15 years ago on a Wednesday morning.  The settlement was agreed on the phone within 2 hours and I had the cheque 2 days later on the Friday.

You just have to keep trying; I usually start off with comparison sites, and if they aren't any help then start trying the individual ones like direct line, toyota, adrian flux, nfu etc.

Try to set the renewal date at around 24 days, and try to put as many elderly women with clean licences on as named drivers as much as possible.

It's really annoying how these attempts by the authorities to level the playing field in insurance has just backfired on us instead - First they forced them to remove the bias towards female drivers, but instead of lowering mens' insurance they raised womens insurance, and now they have stopped new customer discounts which just means the price has gone up for everyone as insurance companies have never given discounts for loyalty and probably never will.

The last time I tried Flux I thought they were quoting the national debt figure to me. Their premium quotes are absurd.
