Presumably you're enquiring about Japanese Domestic Market vehicles imported by third parties rather than the official Toyota sales organisations.

Reservations -

* warranties (eg corrosion warranties) aren't supported

* values less than official imports

* may need to be insured through specialist insurers, as specs won't be the same

* audio equipment may not be suitable for the market the car is imported into.

As I see it…..  you may save couple thousand £’s but potentially inherit loads of headaches, some you will have immediately, others that may not surface for a few years.

Any jdm car can be a good deal if bought cheaper than official import and you are after the car itself and not the warranty or anything from the dealer / manufacturer. If you are buying it for yourself and thinking of not bothering dealers for services and you are a car enthusiast and take care your own vehicle there is probably nothing wrong to have one, only insurance can be a bit tricky and the fact that you can’t really trace any history or accident repair previously and the mileage. , you can but you need to understand Japanese. 👍

Plenty of others available these days. "No history" on Japanese imports is a thing of the past.
