Toyota Touch with Go II - what still works?

Posted here because it applies to various models.  I'm curious as to what the connected services do for our Toyota Touch with Go 2 systems?  It seems like they no longer offer any of the online services anymore like Google Maps street view or fuel prices... I thought they still worked if you paid for them. Does any of this still work or have Toyota totally ditched it?

The MyT app is also kind of disappointing compared to the old MyDS one for my last car which showed you service / warning lights / trip history / cost of fuel / booking dealer services / arranging valet services and all that jazz.

Wondering what you all think of this and if it is in fact dead?

On top of that, in emails they were talking about what new stuff brand new cars get. While the existing ones have features disappearing.

Hopefully my new non Toyota car will keep getting new features for a long time to come.

It does work still you just need a subscription what's part of a map or map care you only get 3 years with a new car, cars from 2018 onwards* have the fully connected services, as SOS systems are now a requirement on new cars (Newly produced models) 2018 Avensis is the last of the T270 (replaced by the Camry in 2019)

Toyota's sat nav, didn't really change over the years, then I lost the google street view and poor map updates. No point in having sat nav that tells you the directions after it's too late to change lanes safely.

The rest of the car was fine, until the watered down fuel came out and made a big impact on economy. That's what triggered the move from a hybrid to electric.

Traffic, speed cameras, POI's (but not Google POI search?) and map updates.

I think also some things like fuel prices and weather are still there (I changed from the Auris in September, but never renewed the online services which expired last March/April so going from memory) after they dropped street view and Google POI search.

There was always a couple of apps which were an option to "buy" even though the functionality was included in some way.

Yeah that's why I didn't care the Mk4 didn't have a satnav - I've never liked to rely on manufacturer infotainment for things that need to be up to date as you're at their mercy and you get stupid things like a £300 update that would be £30 or free on a standalone system, and they can drop support whenever they feel like it as there is no legal obligation for them to support it.

How're you finding the Model 3 out of curiosity?

I really like the Tesla mechanicals - They have the most advanced AC induction motors in the industry atm, and the power delivery is really nice, but I hate the driver interfaces - I need buttons and dials!! It doesn't help that something about my fingers makes them stop working with capacitive touch-screens properly after a bit of use!

Some company has come up with a add on solution for you, it's a dongle connected to the canbus and links to wireless buttons.

The only apps that I could get were for the Radio and the glass of water.

Google search was hit and miss and the sat nav didn't like gps coordinates. At least it could find the Tesla place that I was going to lol
