Aygo Warranty Confusion

My March 2020 Aygo is booked in at Toyota in 3 weeks for its 2nd service.

Ive just been browsing the service/warranty booklet and noticed it says,"Comprehensive warranty at a glance"

"Aygo.....3 years/60,000 miles

Surface rust/paintwork....3 years

Corrosion perforation...12 years"

I was under the impression my Aygo had a 5 year Toyota warranty, provided service shedule was maintained.

Any ideas please??

Depends when the car was registered, up until July 2021 there was indeed a five year warranty but in July the warranty was reduced to 3 years and the relax warranty was introduced.

Toyota cars in the Rep of Ireland never had a five year warranty. They had, and still have have a three year warranty and three years free services. You can see that they are trying to standardize the warranty system and make it global.  Obviously less costs involved.

The 5 year/100,000 mile UK new car warranty was originally introduced by Toyota GB from 1st June 2010 in order to bolster customer confidence in the wake of worldwide recalls for accelerator pedal issues. The additional 2 year/40,000 mile warranty extension was funded by Toyota GB.

The rest of Europe retained the 3 year/100,000km new car warranty.

Presumably with the introduction of the Relax extended warranty, there was a need to re-align the UK warranty with the rest of Europe.

That's a nice perk, that saves roughly 700 € !
