Corolla Navigation Unit - UK Models

Hi folks,

I was wondering if someone can tell me the difference between these two Toyota Corolla display screens. The one I've seen on 2019 > 2021 models have buttons down the side of the display and on a 2022 model they're gone but they've left a black edge round it.

Any ideas?

The 2022 model year Corolla ( apart from Icon grade ) will have the all new Toyota Smart Connect infotainment navigation system.

It’s their new Smart Connect + system which is faster than the Toyota Touch 2, supports wireless Apple CarPlay (android remains wired) and it’s a new UI.

First introduced into the Yaris Cross, the buttons are gone. The Cross can have a 9 inch screen, however the Corolla can only have the 8 inch screen, which means we get the larger black bezels.

In my opinion, I think this is still a good size and a great advance on the Toyota touch system which was incredibly dated and slow.

The Smart Touch has a good feature in Spec Cam zones; It displays the average speed too.

Thanks for the heads up. Does anyone have a view if Smart Connect vs the previous one is better. After trying to find out bits about it online it looks like it loses some of the split view where you get nav, audio and eco data on one screen and doesn’t to have any vehicle settings menus for controlling the car e.g. lock the doors when you drive off.

No UK Corolla can lock the doors as you drive off.

Thanks @forkingabout - I didn't realise this. No big issue just something I've been used to on all my other cars.

I have a MY 22 Icon, so it has the old style set-up. I do like the buttons, the split screen etc. and use TomTom as as Sat Nav. I have no interest in the Toyota Sat Nav, so I am very happy with current set-up (in any case, when I ordered the car, the new system had not been announced yet). However, if I would use the Toyota Sat Nav, I would definitely prefer the new system over the old one.
