Hi All ,

My air con as stopped working again I had it fixed last year but its failed again , so that's gonna cost me another £50 to get it done for the coming warm weather (fingers crossed)

But my Auris  Hybrid is now 9 years old with just under 70000 miles the clock  so I guess its to be expected

Sigh !

If it needs regassing within a year there is a leak in it somewhere. The problem is finding someone skilled enough to locate and repair it!!

Your AC system most probably has a leak of AC gas.

My 2015 Auris Hybrid needed a new AC condenser as leaking in bottom right at 29,000 miles around 18 months ago. Thankfully replaced at Toyota under warranty, as not stone damage.

Really need to look for the leak. any dark staining/wetness on the condenser. look through the front grille. Mine was leaking bottom right.

An AC specialist would be better than a garage with machine as have more equipment if a small leak like a sniffer tool. Garage AC machine not good at detecting a smaller leak. I in the past have used Cool Car mobile service.

Hi,

it’s not normal for AC on any car to go low on gas for a year time, perhaps more years and if it’s been used everyday. The ac system needs a leak test and fix of the leak, condenser likely replacement are most often things, then re gas again. 👍

This is the biggest problem. Have a 1996 Volvo 940 with non working AC and went to local garage with AC machine and evacuated, pressure tested and re-gassed and assured all ok, only for the AC to fail 10 days later as leaking from the condenser. Stick with an independent AC company who only does AC. As otherwise may bung money down the drain.

Totally - I tried so many places around London who claimed to be AC specialists and none of them were much help. Aside from 2 places, one of which had a proper sniffer thing, "AC specialist" apparently means "Can correctly plug two hoses from the AC machine into the car"...

As a last resort gave my Toyota dealer a try but they were even worse, mis-diagnosing the fault in which I quickly realised was the good ol' "Change-every-part-one-by-one-at-the-customers-expense" school of diagnostics.

But I really didn't like that Mk2 anyway and this gave me some good leverage to get a lot of money off the Mk4! :yahoo:

Condenser is a easy DIY task as the system is empty.....if indeed it is the condenser, here's mine, it had a very fine leak, system was still working, just over 300g of gas was evacuated when I did the job.

The damp patch on my old condenser, exactly matches your leak stain on your photo. James.

Which may point towards a fault with this particular parts on your models. Usually happens to mass produce cars. Perhaps more Auris gen 2 owners will have that issue but not all would had noticed.

I'm wondering the same. A possible design issue of the condenser or age, as mine leaked/stained exactly like Roks one has. Any other members with MK2 Auris had same?

James.
