Hi all. Just got a 2008 tundra with a 4.6 at auction. overall pretty happy about it.

a few issues though.

1. odometer only reads ODO, rest of the functions appear to be fine

2. smokes like nobody's business when you first fire her up. I'm guessing the valve stem seals need to be replaced. correct?

3. leaks oil like a sieve. Any common areas I should look? oil level is blow the dip stick reading if that helps.

Sounds like it needs some TLC, I'm sure someone with knowledge of the Tundra will post some useful info for you 👍

Thanks Hybrid21. looks like it's more complicated than I thought.

Does it have the button on the cluster that is normally used for cycling between ODO and Trip? Do you feel any resistance when depressing the button?

If it does then It is a membrane type button typically that has the rubber with the contact on the button, typically like keyboards and remote/game controllers. Its either very dirty, worn, or completely split.
