Multiple devices attached to Multimedia

Just got a nearly new Yaris Hybrid Design mk 4.  I attach my Android phone to the USB cable and I can use Google Maps on the Multimedia system screen.  Brilliant. My wife can attach her iPod via bluetooth and she can play her audiobooks through the Multimedia system.  Also brilliant.  But we can't attach both devices at the same time.  Is this a restriction of the Multimedia system?  I would look in the manual but the dealership lost the manuals and have ordered some for me, but they have not arrived yet.  I'm looking for confirmation and any workarounds please.  Thanks.

Thanks for the link Mike.  I have now read the Multimedia manual from cover to cover and unfortunately I can't see any words that answer my question.  Maybe the owners of the guide think "obviously you can't attach more than one device at a time".  There is a reference to up to 12 bluetooth devices but I think that applies to how many devices have been paired not how many you can attach at once.  Anyway, any advice welcome.  Thanks, Dave

I’ve found if you have Android Auto ( Apple CarPlay in my case ) connected, it has to be via usb. This then disables bluetooth so phone is controlled via usb.

I have music on usb memory stick, which we play via USB port. This means then we cannot use Google maps as phone is not connected via Apple CarPlay. We have stored a TomTom Sat Nav in glovebox now and use that opposed to Google maps.

In relation to connecting both to play music: logically, how would you play music from both devices? You can pair phone via bluetooth, then play music via usb - as we do.

As previously posted, the only way to get another USB port is to use the one for the DCM (2 wires for data only) and may be Split it with a hub

Not 100% sure if the connectors are available tho

As a follow on to this, is it possible to add Toyota satnav feature to my mk4 Design? Can I do this myself like an over-the-air software upgrade or do Toyota need to do it? Thanks.

It requires extra hardware to be fitted which costs a fortune.

Stick to Android Auto / Apple Carplay.

The satnav on the mk4 yaris, wasn't an option until My22 in the UK - its a physical add on module

not up to date on prices but it's current production car, so most parts are for production cars and you will still have 1 usb port to use
