66 plate central locking fault

I have a 2016 Avensis diesel estate. The fault has been with the car since purchase at auction 3 months ago. When locking either by key or remote,, the passenger door clicks repeatedly (about 8 clicks) often in two bursts, and sometimes dosn't lock. 

Does anyone have a suggestion please?

A dodgy door lock motor - will the door lock manually with the key

Even with the key the door mechanism still clicks rapidly and sometimes fails to lock.

Is it a job I can do myself? I cant even see how to start removing the door panels to get into the lock mechanism area!
