2006 Verso floppy gearstick

Hi. While driving, the gearstick in my 2006 Verso suddenly went from normal operation to floppy in 1st and 2nd gear. It now shifts long left into 1st and 2nd gear and the stick is very loose while in those gears. All other gears are normal and  stick is still tight in neutral. Can anybody advise possible problem and solution.

Solved. Gear cable retainer clip dislodged/missing. Replaced and working as normal now.
