Is there a cheap or even a free software alternative that I can install on this a laptop to do all my fault reading.

Yes plenty, look for a mini VCI with techstream - if you have a diesel you will need something that does K-line like a VCX nano

It is a diesel.

Think it's a 2.0 turbo. 

So I it's a diesel do I not need the mini VCI.

I VCX nano?

Any download links available for the software?

I've got other software for fiat and Volvo.

I just need to learn the terminology and names.

Just worked out that lead for Volvo is VXDIAG Make.

Model is VCX nano PU140 

Does anyone know of this will do Toyota as well?

The mini VCI is can bus only, early diesel use the K-Line

only a handful of adapters work with Techstream

 

VCX nano  - the interfaces are firmware locked, so you need the correct one or a licence upgrade to unlock it

VCX Nano SP245

 

there is a cheaper work around using a VAG interface and Techstream

 

officially, techstream is a paid service via the Toyota portal
