The funny thing is we've had the ability to do this for maybe 20 years, but it was just so expensive it was considered unviable. IIRC the cost was equivalent of £2-3/L at a time when fuel was starting to nudge into £1/L, but ironically everything that's happening is bringing it into viability!

The process is still heinously inefficient compared to just sending the electricity into a Battery, but possibly better than what goes into making hydrogen depending on what feedstock they're using.

I would like to think things have moved on in the last 20 years though and with F1 money and development behind it should be a lot better fuel.
