Timing Chain causing permanent engine light

Hi. I own a Toyota Verso 1.6L Diesel (2015 - 95,000Miles). I understand this model has BMW engine. The car felt fine to drive but the engine light came on some months ago indicating that the timing chain had possibly stretched, so had this checked and got the chain and sensors replaced, not cheap!!!. The car drove fine for around 8 weeks and then the light has come back on with the same error as originally. Again had all the timing checked and reported that all seems fine but the engine light pops up again after reset within 15mins of driving. Is there possibly a software fault within the management system that any one is aware of? I can't believe that the chain would stretch again within 8 weeks of being repaired. Any other thoughts wlecome. Thanks.
