toyota RAV4 Diseel D4D 2.2 2007 , does it have glow plugs instead of spark plugs ?

Yes, that is indeed the nature of a diesel ...

Sortof - 'instead of' is not entirely right as glow plugs serve a totally different function to spark plugs.

Spark plugs ignite the fuel air mixture every power stroke in a petrol engine.

Glow plugs help warm the cylinders just before a diesel engine is cranked to help get the compression ignition going, then they're never used again for the length of the journey. A lot of modern common-rail diesels don't even have glow plugs anymore.

A main dealer  ( not Toyota or Honda) near here wanted to replace the spark plugs in my Honda CRV idect diesel.

And no doubt, charge for them too.

Makes me wonder what they would have replaced the oil with, caustic soda maybe.
