Question About The Impedance In Amps..

Hi, I have been looking at a few 4 channel amps to power all the 4 Speakers in my car. The Speakers are rated at 4 ohms, but the amps I have looked at are rated at 2 ohms.

Will I be able to run the Speakers off the amps without them blowing up? lol

Most amplifier manufacturers will quote power ratings at the lowest impedance they can handle as lower impedance equals higher power output! Your amp should probably have a rating at 4 ohms as well as 2, maybe even 8?

Maybe if you can only find a 2 ohm amp that you like, then go for a 2 channel one, and wire you Speakers in parallel in two sets, ie your front left in parallel with your rear left and the same for the other side. The combined impedance of the Speakers will then be 2 ohm! Ah, good ol' high school physics - knew it would come in use one day!
