Limp mode

Hi, could really use some help with my car as no-one seems to have fixed the problem. Couple of weeks ago while driving back from work 3 lights showed up on my toyota auris 2.2 sr diesel, Engine management, traction and vsc. Car went into limp mode and couldn't do more 40mph. Got it to the garage next day and mechanic said egr probably needs a clean so he did so and cleaned other bits around it. The next day car went back into limp mode again so called out an auto electrician who said it seems to be egr problem so I replaced it, but after leaving garage and about a mile from home the lights came on again but didn't lose total power. This time the car was trying to pull back in 1st and 2nd but was back to normal as I want up in gear, so got out auto electrician again and it bought up code p0400 which is the egr flow but after testing everything and checking around he said he couldn't find anything. So today again the car is in full limp mode and mechanic is stumped as he has no clue what the problem is, this guy has been my mechanic for 15 years so I fully trust him. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone help or recommend someone who is a specialist in Manchester? Any help is fully appreciated. Thanks

Could be a number of things but have you checked the turbo boost pipe ?
bad injectors could be another cause ..

Sorry to ask, but how is your head gasket? Those engines are notorious for leaks in the area (a symptom for a much serious problem).

The problem you are having may have something to do with that. In some cases, the ECU starts tripping codes on those situations.

Check it and your EGR cooler.

If you really want to know what the cause is, try a Toyota dealer and have them use Techstream on your car. Might help, or not.

It's the Toyota diagnostic software tool used by main agents. The supporting PC connects via the cars OBD port.

But, it's also available to run on a regular laptop, for sale off the likes of eBay, where someone has cracked/bypassed the need for a licence number to use it. Often for sale at a very reasonable price.

You need a electrician with a Toyota system for your car as 3 party fault code readers dont have the same coverage this is also true regardless of manufacture.

Of course you may.

But Techstream software is specialized on Toyotas. It is made to read the codes of the ECU the way it is supposed to, plus gives you access to a huge database of malfunctions and resolutions related to the codes it reads on the model of the car, as well as a guide to try and fix the problem.

There are other softwares with the same capability, like Autodata, but it is not specialized software. It's software made to work on all cars.

Thats your machanics problem using a product thats not specific for your Make ie Manufacture reccomended.

You dont need a main dealer but you do  need the right type of reader otherwise certain functions will not be avaible to you and diagnostic functions will be incomplete / inaccurate.
