Hi everyone. Bit of history now.

In 2014 I bought an old 02 Range rover, then I bought a 2010 model, so I have owned two range rovers, loads and loads of features and comfy ride BUT every time I turned the key another warning/defect would 'ping' ! It didnt matter about servicing or anything else, another 'ping' would be heard! They were a money pit!

So, 3 yrs ago I had a leased Ford Kuga. I leased it to get away from constant maintenance costs and problems.  That lease comes to an end in September.

I have always liked the Previa design and now I am hooked on the Estima.  The Alphard is too 'van shaped' for us really, but the Estima looks slick, IMO.

So! I need to know if a 10 yr old Estima would be constantly 'pinging' with warnings and faults? ( The range rover forums are FULL with constant 'my car is broken down' comments! Just look at https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/index.php !! )

I have spoken to a few drivers of these lovely looking motors and they can't praise them enough.

Any advice on problems etc and also which firms to approach to sell me one would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks.

Nuneaton/Coventry based.

Welcome.

Toyota have made the most reliable vehicles for years. The Estima is no exception. I would veer away from a CVT transmission though so I’d opt for the V6. Others will confirm that this uses a different transmission.

The Estima is a really good vehicle...luxury and reliability.

I'm biased I guess but as Paul says, go for the V6 if you can...torque converter box is so reliable.

I've had mine for nearly 7 years now...never an issue.

I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Thank you to you both for your information and encouragement.  I have read that getting insurance could be a bit tricky for a 'grey' import.  Do you lads use specialist brokers or would Meerkat or the Opera singer comparison websites be ok to use?

I've used Adrian Flux for many years now and they've always insured my V6 no problem. (see contact details on this forum)

I know a few peeps who have used Mark Richards Insurance (Bristol).

You really shouldn't have a problem as the Estima is quite well known in the UK now.

Yes....mine is a MkII so had the 3 litre V6 (1MZ-FE)..I think it was the MkIII (2005/6) when they started using the 3.5 litre instead. (That's the 2GR-FE)

How does the Estima 3.5 insurance costs compare to my 2019 Kuga 2.0l titanium? Cheers. Being as I dont have a reg no ( because I havent bought a car yet ) I cant get a bog standard quote off the comparisons sites to get a guide.  Thank you.

I am insured via NFU Mutual, no drama and they found the vehicle on the DVLA site so no issue there. They are not on comparison sites and do it old school over the phone, Marvelous!  don't charge extra for monthly payment and through in breakdown cover which of course you'll never use but still great to have.
