Anyone know where I can get an Air Conditioning Liquid Pipe?

Hi all,

I have a 1999 Toyota Avensis 1.8 GLS Petrol Saloon.  Unfortunately the air conditioning is gone.  I am just getting hot air.  My Air Conditioning Refrigerant Liquid Pipe is corroded.  I need to get a new pipe.  The problem is I tried three suppliers so far and can't get it.  The Part Number is 88716-05090 and is called:

Air Conditioning Refrigerant Liquid Pipe C

I would be grateful if any of you know of some supplier where I can get this.

The rest of the car is still going well.  I have had this car since 2002 and it is still a lovely car to drive today.  Too good a car for the scrap yard.  It's just unfortunate the air conditioning went during the hottest week of the year.

Kind Regards,

Mary-Ellen

if you can remove it your local pirtek branch may be able to do it in rubber with the right fittings on the ends.

My mechanic Dave from Brooklyn Motors, Malpas, Newport gave me the part number.

The low pressure port on your model is to the left of the Battery level with its base. The small stainless steel pipe with the grey plastic cover marked with the letter L.

You will have to get it repaired, an A/C specialist will be able to braze the part, or you could get it welded, the other option would be to take it to a hose specialist like Pirtek

The condenser end should be standard fittings, but the block on the other end is non standard

In the other end there is place for the pressure switch too.

Easiest way would be of course to replace that pipe with new one, but finding it can be too difficult...

You need to find an A/C specialist "humble enough" who would make new pipe and use those old blocks in the ends.

By "humble enough" I mean mechanic who will listen to you and do what you ask him/her to to do.

Parts have been out of production for 10 years or more, the aftermarket is non-existent - first thing i did was check the EPC, but i will take a second look to see if there is a substituted part

Yeah try and find an AC specialist around your area - They will either be able to repair them or, more likely, replace them with rubber hoses for a lot cheaper.

The tricky bit is finding an AC specialist - There seems to be a dearth of them in the south as I only found one who didn't just rely on The Machine; All the other ones I found were Up Norf somewhere and too far away for me to realistically use.

A commercial or domestic A/C company maybe a better bet as they will be used to sweating/brazing - maybe a radiator builder it all depends on the actual fault

Get the pipe off the car and make sure it's capped and sealed

Hi all,

Sorry about the delay in replying to you.  I have been searching for the right diagram to show you the part I mean.  Here it is:

See the middle pipe that connects to the condensor.  The one with the red highlighted text above it.  This one:

This is Refrigerant Liquid Pipe 1.  This is the part I need.  I hope this is of help to you.  F

Kind Regards,

Mary-Ellen

Aaaa don't post your phone number on a public forum! You'll get all sorts of weirdos calling you trying to sell you things or convince you they're an exiled prince that needs you to send them £3000 or that your computer's been hacked by Chinese Russians and they can fix it for a small fee what's your credit card number or any number of fraudulent con-men!

Good advice, and can I add never buy a camera,or nowadays I suppose a laptop or mobile phone, from an out of breath man in a tearing hurry with a blue transit van at a motorway service area.

No, not me, but a workmate showed me his £30 bargain, that looked like an expensive German camera with "Schneider" written on it in the 80s.

Apart from being made of cheap plastic, and nothing inside it except a bit of glued on metal to make it heavy.
