Toyota Avensis 2.2 Injector Fault

Hi I own a 2009 Toyota Avensis 2.2 T Spirit with 1K miles in it . It ground to a holt on me the other day in a cloud of smoke & the RAC detected injector problems. The injectors are now out & have been tested with one being split open & 2 more wafer thin. My question is would this have done any more damage as I have been told it could of damaged both fuel & main ecu at the same time? As it is going to be an expensive repair as it stands I did not want to get in too deep with more expense I was not expecting. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Ecus are fairly resilient, new injectors and code them i would also do the 5th injector and a new fuel filter, it may take a while to clear the smoke/unburnt fuel

Injectors - 2 types around £415 each for new Denso items

Is it a good idea running that redex stuff threw your car twice a year r every second fill to keep the injectors good

i heard there is a pipe on the rav 4 that puts oil around the engine and its got a wee filter on it and they say it needs to be done away with as it staves the engine from getting oil wrecking the engine

Hi, your daughters problem with Rav 4 sounds exactly same as ours. Injector failure then replaced all 4 with new ones only to find vehicle won’t rev and runs hot at exhaust. Would be really interested in finding the outcome of your daughters

Hi Arran, they eventually got the car back after another set of injectors fitted as the first set were the wrong ones.

It's back on the road now but has cost them an awful lot of money ☹️

Now has a diesel leak,  apparently the pipe from the tank to the filler corroded, so they've decided to change it for something newer as it's just costing them too much to keep it on the road.

It's ok running an older car if you can maintain it yourself, otherwise the cost can be frightening ☹️
