Reading - or

Savouring a quiet dram of a decent single malt In the evening - or

Mug of tea (don't use cups in our house)

I do exercise like walking and gym. Use to be able to play badminton but bad football knee ligament injury, no longer can.

Visit national trust places, cornwall/lake District/coast/Wales for UK base trips. Connect with nature peace and quiet away from london.

I've always found walking best for my stress levels.

I had a two year spell a few years ago when my mother had increasing health issues due really to old age, and combined with family issues it was stressing me out.

My one hour walk every day prevented me going insane, giving me time to think things out 🙂

I also lost a stone in weight, blood pressure and cholesterol levels lowered too 👍

I make scale models to take my mind away from the real world. It requires so much concentration all the things around you just disappear.

Running, circuit training, powerlifting.  Built up a good collection of bars and plates down the years so have a decent setup in the garage.

I work in IT where everything is virtual, so I like the physicality of iron.

I overcome stress a very easy way. I used to lay down close my eyes and count sheep in a field. Unfortunately, I always ran out of sheep.
But now I lay down, close my eyes and count backwards how much my energy bills come to. This is great as I will never get to zero and can't fail to fall asleep. 😂

I play squash to combat any stress, and play with our two boys.

I either potter in my garage, take the dog for a walk, or (in summer) head out for a ride on my motorbike

Driving around and just enjoying the world (Esp. at this time of year - When I drive home the sky looks beautiful; I cut through Alexandra Palace to avoid the massive traffic jams caused by the local council on the way home, and the view is spectacular - The air was clear for once and the way the lowering sun was hitting the buildings in London lit them up like flecks of shining gold - Stunning view!). I've been finding the Mk4 especially relaxing to drive, even in massive traffic jams or long otherwise-boring motorway runs!

If I'm in a bad mood, I like to listen and/or jam to metal - I find it weirdly soothing to get the rage out - or engage in some form of mass murder. There's something really cathartic about mowing down hoards of arbitrarily bad people with excessive amounts of firepower (I should clarify this is on a computer and not in real life :fear:  )

Reading can be helpful if I can find the right sort of book (One that's engaging but not too taxing on the brain! So, say, The Martian or Snowcrash or the  are fun, but Hyperion or A Song of Ice and Fire not so much  ), but I've not really hit on anything lately and have ended up re-reading stuff I've already read (It's not as engaging when you already know what happens, although sometimes you find stuff you missed before or just forgot about...)

I am into 'n' gauge model railways. It can be very therapeutic to take a bit of polystyrene, some plaster, paints and flocking stuff and create a little scene. The last layout I built, set 'somewhere' in England was approximately 12 feet x 4 feet. I have also built 'n' scale, (1:144), models of some local buildings, plus one of my own Irish cottage. I also like a good Malt too. 😃

Below is a photograph of the model of my house that I constructed, mainly of cardboard, held in front of the real house.

I guess your way to get rid of stress is to ask the question and then do a disappearance act 😂

Aye loz, live it while you can , I agree entirely.

As I'm sure a lot of the older people here have found, things tend to start packing up in your body with age and illness.

But on the bright side in answer to the op, I usually just scream into the pillow, and cry until exhaustion overtakes me to relieve stress.😂

Seriously though, I try to keep moving as much as possible, and to maintain an interest in the things that give me enjoyment, maintaining friendships is also very important, and good for mind and body.

Some people, you have to ditch along the way, but a 40 or 50 year friend is a wonderful thing and a source of great comfort and solace when times are hard.

Good luck and friends to you and all.🙂

Playing trains and computer art.  The trins in question as 16mm remote control steam engines proving i ma still a child but the toys have just got bigger and more expensive.

I use a program called Poser to create my computer art which is used for cards and calendars within the family.  I would like one day to use it to illustrate a book if I ever get around to writing one.

Examples of the art
