I have automatic configuration of temperature, aircon, seat heating and blower control, strangely though it only seems to work when the passenger seat is use.

Sadly, it took me a little while to work that out ... 🙂

And, of course, this doesn't regulate steering wheel heating - or, at least, I hope it doesn't ... 😉

It was yet another tick in the box for the BMW, which automagically enables this when the outside temp drops below a configured figure.

To clarify the automagic; you are not forced to have the heated steering wheel come on. BMW associates a driver profile with the key you use (and face?). Hence it can adjust seat, mirrors, audio, climate... including heated seats and steering wheel to the current user.  With everything being controlled by software it's easy for manufacturers to allow for very granular configuration. It's much harder for them to know when to stop!  🙃

Yaris Cross.  Last couple of days I have left the wheel heating on.  It comes on when I start and heats the wheel in 4 segments.

Subjectively it seems to heat 10 and 2 o'clock first as that is where you hold the wheel when you start with 8 and 4 as that may be where you hold the wheel once on the road.

Are they that clever?

It did not become too hot.

Our car is old. My wife keeps a pair of thin leather gloves in… the glove box 🙂
