I bought these to go to ski resorts, with stories that police would not allow cars up the mountain without proper chains (ie not socks).

15 years and 8-10 trips later I never needed to put them on!

Not sure if they officially count as chains under eg Austrian law, but it’s now academic.

Good tip! You've been lucky. I've had to use the chains multiple times. But, only in Switzerland. Never in Austria mind.

Turns out our regular place in Andorra is only about 100-200m from the main road which is top priority to clean. Going to Formigal in Spain in a week, let’s see how that plays out.

Not quite the same tyre, but I bought Weissenfells Automatic S chains for my RAV 4 PHEV with 235/55/19 wheels which are recommended in the manual not to have standard chains. They fit low profile wheels. 

Fitted for testing (easy) - not uses in anger.
