Hello all and  thank you  for the wonderful forum.

My Father in 2001 bought  this Avensis sw 1.6. For in 2011 it went to another family member ...and it wasnt well take care.Finally i got her back.  but.......  here we go . She cranksbut not starting .Its been into Toytota  Portugal they said its the 

Electric Control Unit Ecu 89661-05450 8966105450 Mb1752005521 . I bought a used one im waiting to arrive. 

I tried to reset the one in the car.....negative cabel off for 15 min. positive and   negative cable together for 2 min and nothing.  I also try the obd port  n4 and 13 short...but  only the airbag  blinked and after  30 min ....nothing.

I  took  a spark plug when youn crank there  is no spark ...and i dont smell  fuel either

Any ideas , or anything i might try or look

It's rarely a failed ecu, do you have any codes, how many keys do you have ??

there is also

The car must be in neutral or park if it's auto, handbrake on and driver's door closed

any flashing lights on the dash ? Can you hear the fuel pump ? Do you have spark ?

No codes

3 keys none start the car

no spark 

i cant hear fuel pump

i tried 4 and 13 for 30 min all closed,  ign on , no luck

only air bag flashing

As Mr flash22 wrote, it is unlikely the broken ecu...The fault could be in the ecu relay (oxidized connector?). Also the fuse is worth to check.

Or a bit more complicated fault: crankshaft position sensor?

Anyway, there should be some fault code present.

Hello All

Today i cleaned and checked all the fuses and clean it all.

Then i have run torque and

B2796 - [Laexus] No Communication in Immobilizer System.

any ideas

It's an immobilizer issue

B2796 is no comm in between the transponder ring (around the ignition) and the immobilizer ecu

someone hasn't fitted a decorative ring around the ignition barrel, have they ??

No there is nothing of the  kind.....

Here is a picture about Avensis T25 ignition lock with key and key reader transponder ring...

Are you sure there is no transponder ring in your car?

This is what i got

The white box and ring around the barrel is the transponder ring, unplug clean the terminals and plug the connector in (follow the cable to the white plug)

Edit. Does that cable plug into a black box or does it go into the wiring loom ?

2001 Makes it a T22 (98-03) iirc

Hello  

I have clean the contacts  but no  cigar.

I  already bought the one you send on the link. 

THe connection goes to the wire loom.

I also have cleaned all the connections on the ECU and adjacent plugs.

Im wating for the ring to arrive next week ( also  there is a `new` ecu) .

Is there any procedure on the repalcement of the ring...and in case of the ecu , the needs to be done?

SHE   IS ALIIIVEEEEEEEE

Part  arrive today  . She started on the first  second.  Abit of smoke ( last timeshe run was 7 months ago).. Went for a 5 mile drive on motorway....AMAZING CARS. Sweet and soft engine.

PS-  Now the only thing that worked fora few min and stop was thespeedometer ..... Maybe needs clkeaning on the plugs.
