Ouch! Good old Mr.T.

Well I don't suppose i'ts of much help to you as this guy is in Pontypool but I'm sure if you ring around garages which are familiar with these vehicles in your area you should get a decent quote.

changing the cambelt costs beteen £270& £300

belt cost £35 but there is alot of labour cost as the front seats & floor have to come out & the front prop also if prop joints are worn [very common] it is advisable to change these at the same time

I work in a garage which specialises in cambelt replacement here

and we have done quite a few Lucida's & Eminas (4wd Lucida)... its ot a nice job at all im afraid, so dont be suprised if u get billed for £300 ish, there is a load of labour...

could be worse, I did the cambelt & diesel pump belt on a Nissan Largo import.. what a load of grief, cost the owner £370 :crybaby:

The person I just sold my Estima to had the cambelt changed for £150 at the garage I recommended to him in Pontypool South Wales.

He actually had a Toad Ai606 alarm with extra motor to work all the central locking remotely and a service with the cambelt change done for £450.

Shop around, not everyone is out to rip you off

 that doesnt sound  too bad actually, was quoted 500+ at toyota garage

My local Toyota garage has just quoted me approx 200-220 for replacing a cambelt, what a difference. But mine is in Kings Lynn Norfolk! They estimated the cost on the same as doing a Hiace.

Gareth, I'd like to know the contact details of the garage in pontypool.

I have a Toyota Lucida 2.2 td. I had the cambelt changed at 100,000km's and with a full service it cots me £650 including a full service, which was a hefty bill.

SADLY, IT'S SMOKING BADLY NOW. I THINK THE HEAD-GASKET HAS GONE. IF YOUR GARAGE IN PONTYPOOL CAN HELP, OR IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE KNOWS OF A GARAGE NEAR CARDIFF THAT SPECIALISES IN THESE MOTORS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.

9everytime I start it up, the road behind me disappears in a cloud of smoke until it's warmed up. There was earlier mention of someone having their 'egr valve' done which stopped the smoking. If anyone knows what this is, help please! :help: :help:

Hi Taffy. I don't have the details of the garage in Ponty but if you contact Blackwood 4x4 (import specialists) they should be able to give you some info.

I don't have the contact details for Blackwood 4x4 handy but that is where i bought my Lucida (sold now a while ago). They are very helpfull and know their stuff but don't do the work there.

Look up Blackwood 4x4 they are in Ponllanfraith (sp?) just by Blackwood.

Good luck mate
