Avensis with fogged up headlight plastic? 😱

Don’t waste your money on silly ‘headlight refurb kits’, they are a pain and sandpapering headlights fills me with dread. These kits are a real faf too, don’t use them in sunshine, but when you put the UV protection liquid on you need sun to dry it quickly!   Sunshine in the U.K. 🙄

I tried 3M Rubbing Compound, picture attached.  I could only get it off Amazon, it might be USA only product?

After just three minutes rubbing with a rag they really were as good as new!

did you not have to spray a clear uv sealer over it to keep it looking like that as im sure maybe you cleaned off the clear sealer and would it not get worse months down the line .my wifes car is like that and into the bargin hes the headlights steam up with water droplets in behind them i dont know how that got in she has a vw group car

Hi, I have some uv clear coat from the crappy headlight rejuvenation kits and will apply them when we get some Sun. But products like this one are available online, you just apply after cleaning the dull headlights.

This is very good indeed. I am not sure how long will stay so clear . The kits down properly is the real deal but this compound as quick fix is superb 👍

you put that uv clear coat on after that m3 rubbing compound then

Upon closer inspection the previous product also contains sandpaper etc, but you will need to search for a product like the one below, it is about £10 and is a protective spray only!  The product description says….

”This unique clear coat lacquer is specially formulated to be the final state for any plastic / polycarbonate headlight lens restoration. It replaces the original discoloured cloudy top layer that will have been removed during the reconditioning/restoration process.

Amazon uk has a few compounds available by different brands. I will give the a try as mine aren’t particularly bad for a kit. Otherwise the kit job is best.

i bought all those things you said even the Amazon quick headlight clear wipes .im going to do the wifes car but then you posted another stuff thats better the spray uv c,lear coat stuff so you are saying now not to use the clear coat  uv wipes things on Amazon now

This thread is evolving 😱  Any clear coat I have listed will do the job. But I noted that the ones I have left over from two kits (kits which I did not use) require the Sun to shine on the headlights after applying. The stand alone clear coats which I mentioned, from what I could see on the label, didn’t appear to require the sun, a rare commodity in the U.K.   I understand that masking is required and repeated thin coats of spray on clear coat are a must - or it drips.

i bought this already  and i use it and will do the same job as the spray will or not as i dont have much money and well dont want to waste money on that other stuff you were talking about. i bought the one you were talking about i will post the link
