Failed immobiliser on 2013 Aygo Fire

I have inherited a 2013 Aygo Ice  which came with no keys. It has been unused for over 15 months. I obtained a key from the local dealer and this has been programmed but the car will still not start.  It has been suggested that the immobiliser may have failed.  Any suggestions on how to deactivate please

Where was it kept for the 15 months? If outside, could rodents have damaged wiring, etc?

Sharing tricks on how to override an immobiliser would be giving thiefs a manual on one way to steal cars.

Immobiliser itself, IF it's broken is not terribly expensive. I see them here for less than 30 euro (up to 65 euro) from car wrecker companies and there are plenty available.

Be sure you have your diagnosis right first - better sure than sorry.

To keep it simple and stupid :

- Did somebody program THE CAR ? Just the key is not enough 🙂

- Did you get a key with an immobiliser chip and not just a door key ?

- DId you do an electronic diagnosis where the result was that the key signal could not be read / key not detected ?

Actually the system is designed to be easier to change/ repair than to override.

Is it salvage, stolen/recovered ?

Don't go down the rabbit hole of the immobilizer yet, the fact that it had a key programmed shows the immobilizer is working

new Battery, drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel

Scan the car for codes

start with the basics, does it have fuel, spark and air - make sure someone hasn't pulled the crank or cam sensor plugs off, to disable the car to stop it being taken with the keys again

When all original keys have been lost it is not possible to just order a new key and code it in as you require an original key to put the transponder ECU into key code registration/deletion mode to add new or remove old keys from the ECU, when all original keys have been lost you have to replace the Transponder key ECU and new keys.

It can be done with the correct tool over obd2, you can also write to the chip directly or virginize the module, if you have the security clearance on techdoc you can do an all keys lost reset in techstream
