Noticeable Fan like noise when charging

Our new RAV4 PHEV is making quite a loud fan like noise when it's charging.

The noise seems to vary , going higher pitched then lower again.

It is very warm today, 29 degrees C in London.

Is this normal ?

The traction Battery has heating or cooling to optimise the charging and protect the Battery. It does what it needs to do automatically if it is enabled in the MID settings. It should be on by default and it's generally wise to leave it on.

I've never heard it but I only usually charge between 00:30 and 04:30. But that's what I suspect you can hear.

That is our plan too, but we were excited to receive the car and check everything .  It was deleivered with zero EV charge so wanted to test it out with a full charge.

Impatience prevented us waiting until tomorrow.........

Absolutely normal. The hotter the weather the faster the fan will work, it’s the car Battery cooling system that maintain  safe Battery temperature.
Also fast chargers adds extra heat and the Battery will need extra cooling, or after long ev drive you may hear the fun is working harder. 👍
