Hello all, I have a 2004 generation  7 Toyota celica. I am thinking of buying a brand new set of alloy wheels. Does anyone know what size I should buy? New alloys will make a huge difference to the vehicle. Thank you

The standard wheels are 16", but some owners like to fit 17". A few even go as big as 18", but you'll find the ride quality quite harsh.

Making the right choice is more important than you might think. The Celica has very little in the way of torque, so increasing the unsprung weight has a noticeable effect on performance. 18's are a "no-no", they're simply too heavy. 17's offer the best compromise in terms of looks/performance. 16's will give you the best performance/handling, but to many, they look too small in the wheel arches.

If money is no object, go for a light-weight alloy such as the Pro Race by Team Dynamics. Your car will thank you for the extra money spent. Failing that, opt for a "forged", rather than a "cast" alloy if you can. They're lighter and stronger.

The correct size for a Gen 7 in 17" is as follows..

17 x 7

PCD: 5x100

ET/Offset: 35 (OE is 38)

205/45 (OE), or 215/45 would be the tyre choice.

Finally, after market alloys require a different as in "tapered" wheel nut, compared to the flat seated OE nuts.

HTH

Thanks for that advice. I will refurbish the original wheels. And keep the car as original as possible

Price guide for that will probably start at £50 (57 Euros) per wheel if they're done professionally.
