Software update for my 2020 Yaris Hybrid Excel Please

Hi 👋 

Recently got myself a 2020 Yaris Hybrid Excel, just wanted to ask if someone can point to the right direction on updating the head units software please 🙏

You need to make sure that "Toyota" is the default connection method, not android auto. You then need an Internet connection - blue tooth phone with tethering/Internet sharing enabled (or wifi - my corolla has this as does MY24 yaris but no longer have our MY20 yaris to confirm).

Once you have Internet to the Head unit, go back to the screen you pictured and now software update should be enabled. If its more than  a couple versions out, over the air won't be available. In that instance you'll need to "buy" (depends on what coverage is left for software updates which I think was 3 years from first registration until MY23/smart connect - different head unit). Cost in basket/checkout is zero if covered. You download to USB, insert to head unit and go for a very long drive (up to an hour).

All this assumes you have registered on MyToyota on the website and the car is signed in.

2020 mk4 will not have a sat nav (it didn't get Toyota nav or smart connect till mid-late 2022) and it does not update OTA (that is only the MM21 smart connect) - this is a Touch2 gen 3, and system updates are not available through My Toyota they are TSB releases

 

Op what is your actual Model ID and current version number (edit. your pic looked like a stock image)

the model ID is needed so you get the correct update - I have updates for most systems and/or links

I am just doing the update now. Thank you again; I was hoping you would be responding. 😄 It looks like it has been a while since the unit was last updated. Let’s see if it makes any difference, but it’s nice to have it up to date. Gracenote is next!

That's the 3rd update iirc for the MM17 - not sure about the Gracenote update as I have not tried that update yet

I stand corrected - all based on my knowledge from corolla and no longer have access to the original mk4

Noticed my head unit has got the same software version as your original David.

Just wondering did you update it OTA as per Ian's instructions. Might try to update mine if that is the case.
