Engine swap suggestions? (Yaris 2008 1L)

This is my first post here, hoping for some advice/suggestions from people who probably know a lot more about cars than I do.

I currently own a Toyota Yaris VVT-i 998c 2008 5dr hatchback with around 126,000 miles and 2 previous owners. I actually like the car and would like to keep it for quite a few years, maybe 5-10+. It has been relatively well taken care of in my ownership, however there is an oil leak which has been present for a few years now. I'm thinking an engine swap would be a good solution to this as I would also like to have better performance, so I was wondering if anyone could provide some suggestions for a 1.4L - 1.8L engine which would fit. I'd like to instead upgrade this car instead of spending so much on new cars, any help will be very much appreciated.

Just get it repaired.  An oil leak is an easy fix compared to swapping engine. If you don't like the engine get one with a bigger engine. If you want a peppy one, I'd recommend the T sport.

Yeah, engine swaps are for extremely enthusiastic people with a lot of time and money; It's not as simple as just sticking in another engine, but often pipework will need rerouting not to mention cutting stuff out and custom fabrication to mount things, and lots of the engine electronics e.g. ECU will need to be changed and made to talk with the existing dash or a whole custom dash made up as well as any other wiring.

Not to mention the legalities, like insurance and informing the DVLA in case the car needs any re-certification.

If it's a project car that you can take as much time as you need that's fine, but if it's your daily it's just not worth the ballache.

Where is the oil leak and how bad is it?
Small oil leaks and if away from exhaust are actually no trouble at all and you can drive like that for many years and miles.
If you need to repair it just wait until a bigger job needs doing it and get it done together to justify labour costs.
As mentioned you can’t just swap engines unless it’s like for like same product number.

if it's more than a few drops and the area is wet it's now an MOT fail, the most common oil leak is the cam cover gasket, £15 in parts and an hour to do the job

if you want a 1.8 buy an SR or find a sport with a 1.33 then you have a better base to start with

it's not worth the time, effort or money to do anything with a 1.0 as you are basically rebuilding the whole car - you could put £5-10k into a car thats worth £3K with a large insurance costs at the end
