Hi everyone

I'm just about to take delivery of my new phev grs (with pan roof)

Every review and video I have watched comments on how good the car is but I thought I would get some insight from real owners

What's your thoughts

Thanks

It's a great car and a slight improvement on the previous trims.

Full breakdown here... And compared with my 2021 PHEV...

Got mine 2 days ago. Had the hybrid AWD before that. The GRS PHEV has a few new things like the wireless phone charger, heated steering and the 360 degree cameras, and the 230v inverter socket in the boot.

One thing to be aware of is the multimedia (phone connection) USB port is USB A, while the other charging ports are USB C.

So far I'm very pleased with it.

Yesterday I almost got to work and back on EV, about 45 miles.

Charged it at home (13amp plug) today (took 7 hrs).

I took the free home charger offer, and waiting for BG to arrange an installation date. I might regret that looking what some others have said, but we shall see.

What colour have you gone for?

Had mine for 6 weeks now and 1500 Mile's of varied driving - really like it especially in ev mode for local & shorter trips.  Plugging in regularly to get the max out of electric driving takes a bit of getting used to but second nature now.  I didn't take the free charger but bought an ohme epod as compact and worked with octopus intelligent go.  It's untethered though so have purchased a shorter 3m cable as makes the connecting and putting away so much easier - I take the longer cable if away from home and mat want to use a public charger though although i have only done this once so far... Only slight downside so far is that I have to lift the dogs into the tear seat as a bit high for them.....

Pearl white bitone pan roof.

Previously had a 2021 in Dacuma grey bitone.

I've had mine 6 months now - chosen after a lot of thought and deliberation - and I can happily say it was the right choice as its met or exceeded my expectations in every way.
Took a while to get used to the new technology, but after a few weeks it felt familiar, and the routines of plugging in phone and charging each day became second nature.
Love it.
I went for Decuma grey - uni-tone.

For those in this thread interested/looking at the toyota charger, BG (Hive) have now accepted my photos and drawing, and allowed me to book a 'video call' but due to demand it won't be until Nov! So I'm guessing I will be lucky to get the charger installed this year.

It'll come round quick enough. The granny charger in the meantime? It's 7 or so hrs vs 2.5hrs. I've got a 7.4kW wall box, car is limited to 6.6kW I think. But to be honest I just plug it in and leave it until I'm next out in the car so it's frequently plugged in for 12 hours, sometimes 24hrs.

For me, the advantage of the wall box is in winter. I can precondition the car, air con on high temperature, heated seats on, heated steering wheel on, screen demisters on, etc. and the power to do that is covered by the wall box (through the cars high power electronics) and so I'm setting off with a warm defrosted car and a full Battery

If on the other hand you do a lot of short trips in a day which exceed the range of a full charge then a wall box is essential.

If not and you also got a garage you put your car into then I'd probably just have used the granny cable.

Horses for courses.

Two things I got lucky on just prior to covid. One was moving house and deciding to convert the garage into a high tech home office. Built my own scaffold board fitted giant bookcase, a 3x1m solid oak desk, etc. Perfectly timed a few months before COVID started. The other was having a wall box installed under the government grant system. Electrician friend owns a big firm and sorted out all the paperwork. Cost me just over a couple hundred quid (pretty sure it was less than 300) and got me a 10m charging cable, which I eventually sold on eBay for 120 or 150 I think.

All just pure luck.

You can still precondition using the granny charger, it will pull the power from the house. I’ve also used it when it’s been very hot to cool the car.

Didn't know that. That's good to know.

I am puzzled why anyone thinks it wouldn’t?

Honestly I was surprised. Assumed that the wattage was going to be too high for a couple of kW from the granny charger. Air con, heated seats, front defroster, rear electrical defroster, heated seats.

On my ‘21 PHEV - My Toyota app there is no option for heated seats just heating/cooling via one variable setting and rear defrost. As the heating is a heat pump and pretty efficient I think the actual load on the incoming supply is not beyond the 240v/10A. The front screen will demist/defrost once the heating system is running but not via the electrical heating system.

The heated seats and heated steering wheel (GRS) need to be left on before you switch off. When remote conditioning is started they will start up apparently. Can't confirm (yet) the heated wheel yet but pretty sure the heated or cooled seats worked this way on the last car.

In the App there's the option to set temperature but two switch options (new car and the last one) covering both rear windscreen and front windscreen. So I assumed that it was electrical heating of the air at the front windscreen. I'm reasonably sure this used to work when I remote conditioned the car during past winters and icy weather.

in the my Toyota app, for remote control for climate i just see the option to start climate, no option to set temp.

in the 23 Corolla TS i had the option to turn on front and rear window heating, and set the temp; in the Rav4 I just have the option to start climate with no options. does this mean it will just start the climate at the coldest setting?

I'll experiment with the seats...

I've not checked, don't want to inadvertently set something off whilst the tyres are currently being swapped over.

But, on the last R4P 2021 the app allowed me to set temperature and whether I wanted the front or rear demisters on.

I'm sure it's the same when you press the start climate button for the GRS. Will check later.

This is what you should see for PHEV including GRS version. Just checked.

You got to press the climate option on the starting screen of the app to get the sub page with options.

ok i dont see that screen, when i press the climate option,  ( it prompts to hold  climate icon for 1 second) it just sends the signal to the Rav to start climate without any options. are you using the my T app or my toyota app?

Just checking, do you have a HEV or a PHEV? Your profile says HEV. Nick is describing the capabilities of a PHEV. What does your owner's manual say should be happening?

got the HEV, the owners manual shows how to operate the climate system, but nothing about remote.

ok just tested it now, and no option to set temp in the app  , Rav  starts and climate runs on temp that was set when last driving.
