C Plate Corolla Gt Prob

Hi all,

I've been to look at a C plate Corolla GT. Now, it's dirt cheap, but I'm only really interested in running it for a month before i remove the engine for other purposes.

Anyway, the car would rev to about 1500 rpm and then back to idle and then back up and down even when the pedal was firmly mashed to the floor. Regular up and down, up and down, very gently. Undriveable. I obviously declined and walked, leaving my number and email if he could fix the problem.

The seller has just contacted me and says that he was advised to clean out the throttle body, which he did and it's now running fine and he has driven it about this morning.

I know the Battery is a bit dodgy, so i'm after advice as to what may cause this. is it a dirty throttle body, is it a dodgy Battery?

All help gratefully received!

Hope to hear from someone real soon,

kelvin

Hi Kelvin,

The engine normally does this when there is no water in the engine?

It could also be a dodgy map sensor, if the car wont drive very well.

There is a diagnostic port on the 4age engines, but you need to know what your looking at,

its not a simple do this and that procedure.

Why are you going to pull the engine out? u building a kit car?

Maybe better to source an engine on its own.

Good luck
