Colorado Transfer Box Oil Level

Can anyone tell me how you check the oil level on the transfer box and what oil I should use. I can't seem to find any online pictures etc.

I have looked into getting a manual but none seem to be right for my Colorado 3.0 TD GX 1998. Maybe someone brighter than me can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

TBone,Gregorys (Australian)have a petrol manual available but you have to purchase an additional diesel supplement that covers Colarado/Prado and diesel hiluxs from 1990-99.

The gearbox and t/case each have 2 plugs one for draining, one for filling.

When you refill on a level surface the the filling hole is the upper level for the oil.

Differentials are the same. This is generally applicable to all common vehicles.

I use Castrol VMX 80 on my 5 sp landcruiser and t/case.

Limited slip diffs ,if you have them, need a special lubricant

4 wheel drive constant (mine) - sx75w - 90 gl-4 semi synthetic

please do not fill to the top of the hole, manufacturer states 1 litre overfilling will only create leaks hope this helps.
