Keano - What part of the underside do you need a pic of? I can take a pic when I get a min, but not of the whole underside.

Stats as far as I know:

118 bhp (some sites say 114)

Top Speed I've seen - 120mph

0-60 9.7 seconds I believe

Just been reading the Avensis Forum:

1.8 Vvt-i Known Engine Issue

This talks about oil usage on the new VVTI Engine and how some are using 1 ltr every 1000 miles, but they also talk about coolant and how green it is.

Should it be green? Mine is a sort of redish colour - could that have anything to do with my problems?? I have only ever been told to look for stuff that looks like mayonaise in the oil or coolant and there is nothing like that.

Just a desperate thought!

phew!

I suddenly started to worry  when they were on about it being green!

When I need to top the coolant up do I need the proper Toyota Stuff then?

It sounds like toyota have had a bit of a problem with the 1zz-fe engine using oil, they tell you you have to check and top it up once a week.

When I asked for '4life' at my local dealership, they asked me which one I wanted. The red one is the one for older engines, the new one (and I can't remember what colour it is) is supposedly for newer engines. They wouldn't tell me what the differences are though.

I am not aware of the 1zz-fe using excessive oil. My Mum's gen 7 has never needed topping up between oil changes.
