Carlgolsby: so you've had a RA63 Celica, which shape is that? I know of TA22 and RA28 when it comes to oldtimer Celicas

RA63 was the Gen 3 1981–1985 model.

Brilliant (I know which one you mean now), although I like the RA28 (Mini Mustang) 70's Celica, I have to admit the RA63 is a very rare bird indeed these days; in fact I would say there are probably less of these early 80's Celicas than the 70's ones.

81 - 85 Is this the Celica they used as a basis for the first Supras?

There was a Supra based on the previous Celica: the MA45, MA46, MA47 model with M-E, 4M-E, 5M-E engines.

Still the xA6x is the best looking Celica ever. ;)

With reference to early 80's celicas and Supras I think some pictures need to be posted on. As my memory is now a little vague. I know which is which, I think. but the first Supra from the front looked the same as the Celica of that era ...yes?

Celica xA4x (Mk2)

Supra MA4x (Mk1)

Celica xA6x (Mk3)

Supra MA6x (Mk2)

The Celica came in liftback and coupe versions (also cabrio versions were made based on the coupe).

The Supra (and XX) came in liftback version only.

Many, many thanks, thats very helpful.

Thats why I couldn't think what a 'MK1' Supra Looked like ... I probabley just thought it was another Celica as it appears to be the same body Shell.

I'm a member of the Toyota Enthusiasts Club in England and I don't think anyone has a MK1 Supra, even the Supra registers (within the club) are only applicable to MK2, 3, and now recently Mk4 variants
